Special Lecture on Scottish Genealogy

 Dr. Bruce Durie, University of Strathclyde

The Toronto Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society will present a special two-part lecture on Scottish Genealogy on Saturday, 11 September 2010.

Dr. Bruce Durie, noted author and course director of genealogical studies at the University of Strathclyde , will speak on "Inheritance and Law". He will deal with Testaments (including "Wills"), Retours, Sasines, Charters and the other "hidden gems" of Scottish genealogy, and will address basic issues in Palaeography and Latin. He will also suggest relevant resources (such as hard-to-find books on CD).

This lecture will be held at the Burgundy Room, North York Memorial Community Hall, 5110 Yonge Street , Toronto (access from the North York Centre subway station).
